Update from Brian January 2012

Just a quick update from a busy week at Grantham Foodbank

We had the largest collection at Sainsbury's last Saturday. We collected a record 870.8kg of food. A thank you letter and certificate has been delivered and good news stories have been released to local media.

Up to 20th January we have collected over 6.2 tonnes of food and distributed 4.5 tonnes to over 450 adults and children. Even with a day of pouring rain, people in need poured through our doors at St Catherines road.

Even though we have a 1750kg of food still left to distribute which will feed up to 90 families. There are items that make our food packs up that we are short of

Tinned fruit, tinned vegetables, and tinned meat and fish we would welcome more of these items.

The next collection is set for the Morrison's in the Newton Centre in March put we are exploring a further collection at ASDA in February. Yes we are now being supported by the big three supermarkets in Grantham a big than you goes out to the management and staff of those stores. We would love to be adopted as your charities for this year.

A big thank you goes out too approx 2500 people that have given to this project since we opened in July. We have truly appreciated your support but sense that we are only just starting to reach the areas of pain that we are working in.

We need to increase the amount of voucher holders, so we can reach all of the areas that families and individuals are gaining support from the agencies that do such a good job in our town.

We are just exploring CAP money courses, self worth projects such as master gardeners scheme, warehousing projects and other spin off projects that will help people to restore their dignity and help pass the generosity shown to them forward to improve our town and others starting to struggle in our town.

We are still looking to be adopted by local business so we can make this project financially viable. So please encourage them to engage with us.

Thank you again for your on going support
